Action Plan
Goal: To foster a non-threatening collaborative online community in technology course by
providing communication tools, collaboration tools, and netiquette expectations.
Methods of connecting:
Icebreaker/Introduction activity, e-mail, discussion thread, podcasts, Thinkfree, student
feedback, wiki, blog, and content management system (CMS).
Materials to be prepared:
Icebreaker activity and rubric, my contact information with office hours and anticipated
response time and student email list, discussion board questions and rubrics, microphone and
Audacity audio editing software, Thinkfree account and student tutorial, student/instructor and
student/student feedback forms, wiki and blog setup with netiquette rules in place.
Resources already located:
Conrad and Donaldson book, Lehmann book, Paloff and Pratt book, Audacity audio editing
software and microphone, my contact information with office hours, Thinkfree, Adobe Captive,
Rubistar, wikispaces.
Resources yet to be located:
Ddetermine anticipated response time to student communications, create Thinkfree student
tutorial in Adobe Captivate, create feedback froms, wiki and blog how-to documentation and
setup spaces, develop rubrics, establish netiquette rules, load course content into CMS.
Timeline:
Rough draft of course will be done by July 2008 and peer reviewed. Revisions and finalizations
will be done by August 2008 in preparation for fall 2008 course offering.
