Online Teaching Philosophy
addition, one of my priorities is to continually address the needs of an ever changing student body. To
do this I need to learn from the past, understand the present, and reach out to the future.
The Past:
The past has taught me that each of you learns differently. Some of you learn by seeing, some learn
by hearing, and still others learn by doing. Because of these varying learning styles, my teaching style
includes the use of many teaching methods. My goal in utilizing different strategies is to facilitate
learning beyond the Bloom's Taxonomy lower levels of knowledge, comprehension, and application to
the upper levels of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.
The Present:
The present shows me that providing you with a student centered environment will encourage you to be
active participants in your education. My goal in using a student centered approach is to allow you to
be in control of what and how you learn information. I believe this encourages you, as students, to set
goals and strive to reach them.
The Future:
Because of my technology background, the future of education is what excites me the most. Reaching
for the future allows me to combine my two passions; technology and education. As an online
instructor I rely heavily on technology to facilitate your learning. Lectures, handouts, and hands-on
activities are replaced by web based activities and communications such as blogs, wikis, discussion
threads, interactive tutorials, podcasts, and course management systems to engage and excite you;
my learners.

With a background in information technology, I bring into the
classroom knowledge of computer networking, computer technical

Communications and Information Technology instructor is to share
my knowledge in an engaging environment in which two way
communication is essential. I also strive to inspire you to become
critical thinkers and lifelong learners by leading by example. In
