Interactive tutorials - - self-pace, interactive, hands-on computer programs.
In the past, interactive tutorials required an enormous amount of both human and computing resources. It was often expensive to develop and deploy these tutorials and therefore were used very sparingly. As computing power increases and interactive tutorials become easier to create more and more tutorials are being utilized to enhance student learning.
With software applications such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Captivate, educators are now able to easily create custom Computer-Based Training (CBT) modules and interactive tutorials. These applications allow instructors to create tutorials that can supplement their individual course content. In addition, they can be easily modified and updated as the course changes and grows.
A well made interactive tutorial will provide learning opportunities for learners of a variety of learning styles, intelligences, and personality types. They can greatly enhance a student's learning by providing support outside the classroom, facilitating the internalization of complex concepts, and promoting active experimentation.
